Top 10 Technologies 2013 – Technology of the Future


The top 10 technologies 2013 is nothing to scoff at as modern day society grows more and more into a technological world where technology rules all. With that stated, here are the top 10 technologies 2013:
#1 – Smartphones: While smartphones have been around since the early 2000′s, every year, these small hand held devices seemingly become more impressive and innovative. Whether you have your specific preference of Google’s Android, Apple’s Iphone, or Microsoft’s Windows 8, smartphones are one of the most bought and used items in the world. For the majority of those who use them, they become an essential piece of hardware that they cannot be without which is why smartphones took the number one spot in the top 10 technologies 2013.

#2 – Tablets: Say goodbye to your standard laptops, notebooks and PCs as tablets have been slowly but surely taking over the technology market since the modern tablet arrival in 2000. While Microsoft initially took the lead in the tablet industry, it wasn’t until Apple introduced their iPad that really got consumers interested in tablets. Now with Google having plenty of Android tablets available and the continued advancement of this technological wonder, laptops might eventually be extinct.

#5 – Memory Cards: While memory cards may not immediately spring to mind when you are considering technological advances, think of life without them. How could you take thousands of photographs with your camera and easily transfer them to your computer? How could you download and listen to hours of music? This wondrous piece of technology is one of the most important pieces of hardware when it comes to digital storage, and as they become smaller and hold even more, they will definitely be a vital piece of technology leading in 2013.
#6 – Video Game Consoles: Go back in time and play as a soldier or pick your favorite football team and win the game, thanks to the progression of videogaming, it feels more real than ever. With interactive gaming consoles such as Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox, gaming using standard controllers has long been over. With the Wii, you can use your controller as a bat and swing a homerun or you can use your whole body with Xbox and K.O. a boxer. The technological advances in gaming make video game consoles number six on the top 10 technologies 2013.

#7 – Google Glass: You may have heard that Google’s innovativeness has led to the creation of Google Glass, the ultimate virtual glasses. While some have rumored that the device may be available by mid 2013, Google Glass was demonstrated to the public on June 27, 2012. In the future, Google hopes that consumers use the new glasses as a way to browse the internet, read and send messages and communicate with friends and family. Not to forget the app developers who will be hard at work creating new games and apps for this new hi-tech device.
#8 – Home HIV Test: HIV is one of the most serious and talked about diseases in the world today. Before the Home HIV Test, people would have to go to a hospital in order to do the HIV/AIDS test.
