TODAY'SACADAMIC OPPORTUNITES ABROAD

Alexis Chaconis & Student
Hi, I am Alexis Chaconis the Director of Admission Services and the Study Abroad coordinator. The City University of New York provides you the opportunity to live and study in a foreign country while earning college credit. All programs offer a full course of study for students with a 2.5 GPA or higher, you need no previous language study for most programs and financial aid applies for students who qualify.
One of our students had a wonderful experience with one of our programs. Olga Munoz is a graduating senior in the Hospitality Management program. She participated during the fall 2004 semester in‘Semester at Sea’. She visited such exotic locations as Japan, China, Vietnam, India, Tanzania and Brazil all while sailing around the world and earning college credits!
If you think you might be interested in an experience as wonderful as Olga’s or some other study abroad program please contact me, at 718-260-5553 or at achaconis@citytech.cuny.edu for application information including deadline dates, program descriptions and costs.
  • Applications for Summer Study Abroad are now available. The deadline is March 16, 2009.

The Coordinated Undergraduate Education (CUE) initiative was inaugurated by the City University of New York in 2004 to better meet the complex needs and abilities of its vibrantly diverse undergraduate population across its constituent campuses. The goal of CUE is to create a smooth pathway that students can navigate from college entry through graduation--a pathway that supports them personally, challenges them academically, and enables students to feel “at-home.” While CUNY has historically offered a wide array of support programs, CUE addresses the fragmentation and reduces redundancy among programs available to students by creating a clear organizational alignment of services and opportunities. The CUE initiatives include; Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC), General Education, Freshman Year Program, First Year Learning Communities, The Center for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship and the Honors Program.

Self-Regulated Learning (SRL)

What if your college success isn't just dependent on how intelligent you are?
Research shows that the real secret to college success is figuring out how you learn and discovering what learning strategies work for you.
Self-Regulated Learning is a powerful idea that helps you understand that success at City Tech is based on an awareness of your learning approach and an ability to adjust when that approach doesn't work. This site guides you toward developing better study habits and getting better grades, so you can bring your academic life under your control.
