LG G Pad 8.3 Available In October

Photo: LG G Pad 8.3 officially unveiled, to be available starting October The G Pad 8.3 is according to its maker the first 8-inch tablet to offer a Full HD display. More precisely, we’re looking at a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) LCD display that clocks in at a pixel density of 273 ppi, which is great, but slightly lower than that of the G Pad’s direct competitor, the Nexus 7 (2013). Powering everything is a Snapdragon 600 processor, along with 2GB of RAM. LG put a 4,600mAh battery inside the G Pad 8.3, which is impressively thin, at 8.3mm. Speaking of dimensions, the G Pad weighs 338 grams. A 5MP main camera and a 1.3MP front one complete the LG G Pad 8.3 spec sheet. The G Pad 8.3 will run Android 4.2.2 at launch, with the Optimus UI overlay on top and some of the new software features that LG introduced on the G2 smartphone. Users will be able to wake up the G Pad with two light taps using the KnockOn feature, just like on the G2. Other notable software features include the QSlide multitasking, which allows three apps to run at the same time on the screen, and Slide Aside, a way to switch between apps using a three-finger swipe. Users of the LG G2 will get to pair with the G Pad 8.3 to receive messages and notifications right on the tablet and even “send simple replies”. In the press release below, LG announces that the G Pad 8.3 will officially be introduced at IFA next week. We’ll be there for some hands-on time with the G Pad and to bring you our first impressions. The G Pad 8.3 will hit markets in North America, Europe, and Asia, starting in Q4 2013, or as soon as October. There’s no official word on pricing yet, but we do hope that the G Pad will be price competitive with the Nexus 7 (2013) and other Android tablets in its class.
